Our foundation wants to support young adult cancer patients during their fight against cancer. We aim to do this through financial support but we also want to help facilitate any other needs since this is a group of patients that has special needs. Young adult cancer patients (ages 17-25) are a unique group. They are often an exception, do not have many fellow sufferers, they may well have their parents still very much involved, yet they are also adults and may not want to burden their parents with their sorrows and fears. Some do not have family support. Our goal is to find a way to support individual young adult cancer patients but also support them as a group. We are working closely with the social workers of the hospital departments but also with patients and others involved in the care of these patients.
For this funds are needed. Leah has left behind some money that she wanted to use for travelling before her studies. Her parents and brother want to use this money as a startup for this foundation.
To acquire (financial) means to support young adult cancer patients that are undergoing treatment or have been treated for cancer.
Each year the board aims to raise funds by holding two major fundraisers. A summer event, around Leah's birthday (June 3rd) and one towards the end of the year.
In 2016 we held two fundraising events.
